LAMPANG
If you are looking for a unique and offbeat location to explore, come to the northern part of Thailand and go to Lampang. This city has tons of beautiful Lampang attractions and great food. Forget about the famous cities in Thailand and head down to this city for an adventure through its jungles and mountains.
One of the places to visit in Lampang is Chae Son National Park that would provide you a picturesque scene with its lush forest especially during the morning. Another thing is this city is famous for its horse-drawn carriages if you want to tour around the city even though you can find songthaews and pickups around, it would be nice if you do it in a traditional way.

CHIANG RAI
It’s winter soon but Chiang Rai is one of the hottest tourist destinations during this season although it is less well-known compared to other Thailand destinations. This city is relatively small but it is becoming popular to both Thai and foreigners because of its diversity in landscape, nature, and culture that makes it more interesting. PHU CHI FAH
In Thai, Phu means mountain, Chi means pointing to, and Fah the sky. Therefore, Phu Chi Fah means mountain pointing to the sky. It has a perfect spot for taking photos in the cliff where you can see spectacular scenes especially when you watch the sunset or sunrise – definitely worth the trek! If the sky is clear, you will be able to see the views over Mekong River and deep into Laos. You probably have seen some beautiful sunrises but I assure you that the one in Phu Chi Fah will be one of the most beautiful you will ever see. The area is very popular during winter for those who want to camp.
WAT RONG KHUN
Visiting a wat is probably in every itinerary of a tourist who will visit in Thailand. Needless to say, this applies too as one of the things to do in Chiang Rai. But! Wat Rong Khun located in this city is an extraordinary one. Temples usually have a history and they are mostly built many years ago but this place was only built recently. You can even see the one who designed and supervising the construction around the area which is Mr. Chalermchai Kositpipat.
The construction started in 1998, it is still not yet done and according to Mr. Chalermchai, it would take 90 years even after his death to finish this. Is this the ‘Sagrada Familia’ of Thailand? What do you think? The white colors of these temples are a symbol of Buddha’s purity. It is a national landmark and one of the most popular temples of Thailand. Tip: don’t forget to use the temple’s toilet because it is one of the most beautiful toilets in Thailand.
DOI TUNG
Located on the high hill area about 1,300 meters above sea level that has a sacred hilltop Buddhist shrine built in 911 AD, Doi Tung is one of the Thailand destinations you should visit. It is a popular destination to both Thai and foreigners because of its beautiful scenery it possesses just like Mae Fah Luang Garden. The garden is built in 1992, a garden that grows winter flowers taking turn to bloom season by season. It is built for the Princess Mother, Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra.
